House Concert?

Has anyone ever had any experience with house concerts? If yes, spill it on me! The good, the bad, and the ugly. I’d like to hear some input from performers, hosts, and attendants.
I’m strongly considering hosting a house concert and recording it for a live acoustic album…
Your thoughts?
And if you’re in the Decatur, AL area would you consider attending if the event was free?

Hey Brandon,
It can be awesome, but record EARLY.
The fun can get out of hand quick.
Don’t roll out the kegs until about midway through.
And once the recording is good, hide the equipment!
You’ll have a blast, and there will be little chance to mess up your
recording. A little booze gets the crowd and the bands into a good vibe, but too much too soon can get too crazy.
I don’t know if you 420,but that can make for a mellow vibe too.
Make sure there is some food, to temper the alcohol.
And be careful with the guest list. If you put it out on the internet (or craigslist etc.) be sure to have a reservations only by email with names and Phone#’s, and don’t send the instructions on how to get there until the morning of. That will keep yahoos from crashing just for the hooch.
And have it for free, but there is no reason not to ask for a donation toward equipment/booze costs. I wouldn’t pay a $10 cover, but I would throw you a twenty after the party for sure.
I hope it goes great!
thanks for the input, alexander. the crowd i’ll be having out is not a drinking/smoking kinda bunch, so now worries on that end.
i think i’ve decided i’m gonna do it, so i’ll be posting a date for the show real soon.

I think it would be great as long as the penguins didn’t show up. Boy, you know how they are (wink).
Do the acoustic show…should be a cool atmosphere, and it is a good idea for a live cd.
Hope all is well, my man.

Hi Brandon,
How far is Decatur AL. from Newnan, GA.? Newnan is very close to Valley AL., Wedowee, AL. etc.
I have been extremly interested in House Concerts for about 5 years now, but have yet to find anyone who hosts Christian House Concerts, or anyone who books Christian, Acoustic Solo artists.
I just happened to run across this site, and although I’m very late, I thought I would respond anyway. I’d love to get on a House Concert Circuit of sorts.
God bless you, and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Jerry
